Dr Jayne Osgood

Dr Jayne Osgood is Reader in Education at London Metropolitan University, UK, and Visiting Professor at the University of Western Sydney. Through her research and publications she is committed to exploring issues of inequality in the ECEC context in relation to gender, social class and ‘race’. She is particularly concerned to offer critical deconstruction of education policy as it impacts on young children, families and staff working in the sector. She has authored and edited various publications, most recently Narratives from the Nursery: Negotiating Professional Identities in Early Childhood (2012), as well as peer-reviewed papers in the following journals: Gender & Education, Journal of Education Policy, Contemporary Issues in Early Childhood and Reconceptualizing Educational Research Methodology. Jayne is currently co-editor of Reconceptualizing Educational Research Methodology, is on the Editorial Boards of the British Educational Research Journal, Gender and Education, and Sociology, and she is Book Reviews Editor for Contemporary Issues in Early Childhood. In addition to her professional interest in young children, Jayne is mother to Noah (age 4) and Sylvie (nearly 2).
